Regional a National Leader in Cardiovascular Care

LAFAYETTE, La. – Regional Medical Center of Acadiana recently ranked among the Top 100 hospitals in the nation for Vascular Surgery.

CareChex® also placed Regional among the Top 10 percent of hospitals in the nation for Vascular Surgery, Overall Hospital Care, Overall Surgical Care and Cardiac Care.

But, the honors didn’t end there.

Regional ranked among the Top 10 facilities in the state for Major Cardiac Surgery, Overall Hospital Care, Overall Surgical Care, Cardiac Care, Vascular Surgery and Women’s Health. Regional also ranked No. 1 in the Lafayette market for Cardiac Care, Major Cardiac Surgery, Coronary Bypass Surgery, Pneumonia Care, Pulmonary Care, Vascular Surgery, Overall Hospital Care, Overall Surgical Care and Women’s Health.

CareChex® is a medical quality rating system designed to assist hospitals in improving the quality of inpatient care and promoting medical excellence to consumers, payers and employers. Relying on both public and proprietary measures of performance, CareChex compares the quality of hospital and physician care to national, state and local standards using a variety of process, outcome and patient satisfaction measures to assign a composite quality score and rating.

CareChex incorporates seven peer-reviewed methodologies which specifically address key components of the quality of inpatient care. These methods encompass the following quality measures, many of which have been adopted by the Hospital Quality Alliance (HQA) and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) for public reporting – Core Process Measures, Patient Safety Indicators, Inpatient Quality, Indicators, Mortality Rates, Complication Rates, Readmission Rates and Patient Satisfaction Measure.
